Tinted Windows are now Legal in Illinois*

Illinois house bill 3325 has been heavily followed by Illinois car enthusiasts. While the new bill proposes some of the most stringent of regulations for window tinting it is a step in the right direction. Read on after the jump for more on the new tints.

> If you have tint darker than 30% on the rear, you will NOT be able to tint your front windows!

> If you have 35% on the rear section, you can also have 35% on the front doors, or if you go a touch darker in rear...30%, you are allowed 50% on the fronts.

> Suvs/Wagons/Vans with factory Privacy Tinting on the rear windows, only get to have 50% on the front windows.

GLD Drift Day October 25

THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got off the phone with GLD management. The ENTIRE facility is under water due to the hard rain. Management has cancelled ALL events for this weekend because of the standing water. We can not safely hold the event because there is 6 inches of standing water on parts of the parking lot. (Since GLD was built on farmland, the asphalt gathers and pools water easily and it stays for days!)

Management will not hold the event or any event if there is water on the asphalt. I tried explaining to them that this is actually better for drifters but the insurance policy states that no events can be held when the surface is wet. We cannot go against the insurance company.

I apologize for wasting your time and having people get so excited about this. GLD put its foot down. It is good news that there are still places so close to Chicago that are willing to accept drifting and allow you to come play.

We will NOT reschedule this event since it has been pushed back twice now. Hopefully, we can work something out for next year.

Ken Block and Subaru pulling out of Rally America?

October 17, 2009 - Rally America rounded of their championship series in Houghton, MI. Numerous rumors surrounded rally diver, Ken Block, as the race competition took place. In question, are Block and Subaru pulling out of Rally America?

Shaky economy, consumers tightening wallets, and sponsor companies trimming their budgets, are not the only ones worried. Past weekend, 2009 year closing Rally America event took place in Houghton, MI. Abundant rumors surrounded driver, Ken Block, as he competed to finish the Lake Superior Performance Rally. Questionable suspicions were abuzz with Block rummored to leave Rally America to compete World Rally Championships, becuase Subaru has not comfirmed, nor initiated, sponsorship for next year.

In a quick interview, Ken Block, "hopefully next year, I'll be wearing them too(Subaru). I don't have a deal with Subaru for next year to be honest", confirmed Subaru has not initiated sponsorship for the 2010 season. When asked about the rummored leave from RA to compete in WRC, Block stated, "my sponsors would like to see me do a bit more on the road", implementing the likely possibility of moving onto WRC.

Forum Member's Daily Driver STOLEN!!!

A fellow nF member, and friend, Allen aka Russiandude, got his daily driver a silver 1996 Integra LS stolen!

Car was last seen in the Pheasant Creek subdivision in Northbrook, IL the evening of October 6, 2009. It was parked outside an apartment complex, and when he walked out around 2am on the 7th, the car was gone.

- Silver 1996 Acura Integra LS (has GSR wheels)
- No badges front or back (residue will be there)
- Skunk2 Shift Knob
- Aftermarket CAI
- Gutted Rear
- Black leather interior
- Smells inside

Harley Davidson: Riders Edge MSF Program

Recently member dan13 has been toying with the idea of getting a bike (as so many other members have 'upgraded' this season). He decided to go to the HD:Riders Edge program to get his "M" class license and learn to ride. He was kind enough to do a overview of the program and shed light on how it works.

Now to put this out of the way you dont have to be a complete beginner to take the class. Even if you have been riding for a couple months but never had someone coach you along I would highly recommend this for you.

As some of you know I spent 4 day weekend at Glenview Harley Davidson taking the Riders Edge New Riders Course. The course ran thur/fri 5:30-8:30 and sat/sun 7:30am-5:30pm. There were 10 people in the class to begin with and 2 people had to drop out because they were falling over(yes dropping the bikes)multiple times and continuously stalling. One girl was afraid to get back on after falling and another was asked to leave because she was putting us(other riders)in danger.........
